Grand Rapids Crime Mapping: February 7, 2010 - Last week Kathy Woudstra, Director of GPNA trained block captains on this new innovative technology that the city has invested for it's citizens. It's very easy to use and it gives people an opportunity to sign up to receive emails on crimes around your home. To get there, goggle: City of Grand Rapids, MI then click on departments, then police, under NEW: Crime Mapping.com or click on the link. 

 

UPDATE: January 16, 2010, Grand Rapids Police, Captain Vanderkooi was interviewed by Wood TV8, and stated that the GPNA area continues to be hit by crime. He stated that the area between Division to Plymouth and 28th Street to Hall Street is currently being patrolled. He encourages for all citizens to call the police when ever you see a crime, or suspicious activity. 


OTHER NEWS: At the start of 2010, GPNA switched to a new web site. All board members will have access to updates, please be patient with our new construction, we are learning how to use the Joomla as our data base application. In the mean time, please feel free to sign up to get access to view other areas in the site. If you need to re-new your membership, why not try PayPal to submit your payment. CRIME ALERT!!!! On December 2, 2009, 2115 Union at 12:27 PM this home was broken into while the owner was at home upstairs. The thieves took a laptop and a television. On the same day at 3:26 PM 1002 Ottillia SE home was broken into and ran out when the owner got home. They took a Wii play station.  Last night, Dec. 7th, two more homes were broken into, 2026 & 2030 Martin Streets. We have yet to receive further information on these. Please lock your valuables, and do not leave technology on your counters spaces.
