During the summer of 2010 GPNA is working to make some major improvements to our wonderful park. The improvements will start with building a new playground and enhancing the area around the playground.  This is a KaBOOM! playground build and will occur August 7, 2010.

Garfield Park Pool Demolition:  Both the large and small swimming pools at Garfield Park will be demolished this summer.  Work will begin shortly and completion is expected in August.  The area will be filled, graded, and seeded to create green space.  Please note that the wading pool will not be disturbed.

Future Plans:  A study and grant proposal by some Calvin College students may result in a study for future upgrades to the Garfield Park gym building (details yet to be determined).  In addition, the option of building a water playground in place of the two swimming pools and the wading pool is being considered and reviewed – currently no funding is available for a water playground.  We will keep you updated as additional information becomes available.
